Batomon Showdown Trainers and Ranked Players
Lock an economy, then climb stars after your first Casual 10-win.
In Batomon Showdown the “player” you pick is a trainer, and the players you fight are saved boards. This hub covers both. The opening three-card screen is the most important click in the run. Ranked, which unlocks after a Casual championship, is a scoring layer on the same shop. Start with the trainer guide for verified abilities, then beginner trainers if you want a shortlist, then how ranks work when you are ready to risk stars.
The current catalog lists 17 trainers: Bug Catcher, Chef, Chemist, Egg Breeder, Gamer, Lucky Girl, Mad Scientist, Masked Man, Monster Ranger, Musician, Redhead, Rich Lady, Shopkeeper, Swim Coach, Treasure Hunter, Youngster, and the ??? mysterious trainer. We print full ability text only when we have seen it on a current card or catalog page. For the rest, read the in-game sentence. Inventing a passive would be worse than leaving a name unranked.
Why the lock matters more than the roster
A trainer is a filter on the 88-Batomon shop. Bug Catcher makes Bugs cheaper in practice (the first one each round is free). Swim Coach injects Water. Chef paints Fire. Chemist grows Poison. Shopkeeper edits items, which is how Berroon/Craghorn boards get enough uses. Youngster edits the shop itself with free rerolls. If you lock Gamer because the hoodie looks like you, you have chosen a day-9 Mythical and nothing for days 1–8. That is legal. It is also how 4-win files get overwritten.
Masked Man is the meta-trainer: every 4 days you add another trainer’s ability. The versus splash in official screenshots is the fantasy — Swim Coach on the left, Chemist on the right — but you only ever play one opening lock plus whatever Masked Man copies. ??? never enters matchmaking, so do not plan a “mystery mirror.” Details sit on how to play.
Ranked players are snapshots
Leaderboards you see on companion sites are MMR lists, not live queues. A 4,800 MMR name is a saved board you might never be allowed to fight until Master. Mythical-held runs and some named Batomon are withheld. Low tiers get softened snapshots. When a streamer says the meta is solved, ask which rank they queued. Then look at our comp list instead of their Extended day-30 bag.
Stars move by wins minus 5 on finished non-Extended ranked runs. Overwriting a ranked save scores it immediately. That is the most expensive “I’ll just test Shopkeeper” you can make. The ranks page is the manual. This hub will not repeat the entire MMR formula, but it will say this: your trainer pick is not scored. Your wins are. Pick the trainer you can execute.
How to use these pages together
- Read the three opening cards out loud.
- Compare them to the trainer tier list.
- If you are new, bias toward the beginner shortlist.
- After the lock, filter the Batomon tier list through that trainer.
- After a Casual 10-win, read ranks before you click Ranked.
Events still look like NPCs — Bug Collector, Dragon Tamer, Pond Fairy — but they are shop cheats, not extra trainers. The Bug Collector screen that offers Guardiant, Gildshell, or Brawlmantis is an event, even though the art is a person with a net. Do not confuse it with locking Bug Catcher at the start. Shop and merging covers that distinction.
Launch on September 15, 2026 may add trainers with the new sets. Until their cards are public, they are not on this hub. Follow release and official links. This wiki is unofficial; berrymint’s Discord and Steam news win if we disagree.
When you can explain your lock in one sentence (“I needed free Bugs to feed Formiqueen”), you are ready to play. When your sentence is “this one looked rare,” go back to Getting Started.
