Level 4 in Batomon Showdown
Normal merges stop at 3. Level 4 is a special effect, not a fourth copy.
Most Batomon Showdown players treat level 3 as the ceiling because that is where the copy recipe ends. Three matching level-1 copies make level 2. Two matching level-2 copies make level 3 and open a trinket gift. There is no “four copies make level 4” button. Level 4 is the universal maximum, and you reach it only through special level-up effects: candies, Upgrade Disc, Mega Upgrade Disc, and a handful of events or trinkets that say they level a unit. This page is that extra step. Gold, lock, and the 3-copy recipe stay on shop and merging. Shinies stay on the shiny guide.
What a merge actually keeps
A standard merge keeps the strongest permanent bonus for each stat rather than adding matching bonuses. Added types survive. Stored purchase discounts combine. If any ingredient is shiny, the result is shiny. Copies must match the merge group: most species match their own ID, while pairs such as Riglet/Rigalord and Pipskull/Ratacomb share a group. A shiny and a normal still count as the same name. Magic Mirror gives a plain copy without permanent buffs, so mirroring a stacked unit is not a free second stack.
Sell value scales with level. Catalog math starts from base cost multiplied by 1, 3, 6, or 12 for levels 1–4, adds stored discounts, divides by 2 and rounds up, then adds bonus Sell Value. A level-4 body is expensive to sell and expensive to replace. Do not candy a tourist you will cut on day 6. The economy tool is the gold table; this page is the permission slip to spend a Mega Upgrade Disc only on the engine.
The team holds six Batomon and the bench holds four. If all ten slots are full and a purchase cannot merge immediately, it enters overflow; reroll, lock, and Battle stay disabled until you clear it. Level-4 greed that fills the bench with unmerged copies is how you freeze the shop during a 3-life day. Getting Started is the HUD tour if overflow still surprises you.
The special tools
Upgrade Disc can level a bought Batomon once. That is a skip of one copy, not a skip to the cap. Mega Upgrade Disc turns the next level 3 into level 4. If you buy Mega Upgrade Disc with no level-3 engine on the board, you have paid for a headline you cannot cash. Basic Candy, Rare Candy, and Ultra Candy are gold-priced level tools. They do not replace the copy recipe; they skip it at a price. Events can also hand a level-up. Read the option. A Bug Collector level-2 Guardiant is still a merge, not a level-4.
Level values can change cooldown, Multicast, stats, and ability numbers. Some cards grow a new line at 4. A Wishwash level-4 ability once did nothing until a bugfix; that is why you read the live card after a candy instead of assuming the level-3 sentence scaled linearly. Creators film shiny level-4 Mythicals because the numbers jump. Matchmaking still withholds Mythical-held runs from non-Master queues outside Extended Mode. A candy on a Mythical you cannot show in Gold is a flex, not a ranked plan. See mythical builds.
The embedded video is the “level 3 is not the max” session. Watch which unit eats the special effect. The player does not candy a random Super Rare while the carry is still level 2. Copy that filter.
When to push 4
Push 4 on the unit whose trigger actually wins fights. Formiqueen haste wants Commons touching her; a level-4 Common that sits next to the queen is more honest than a level-4 Legendary that never shares a trigger. Sunsage on a Burn build wants Fire neighbors and a faster timer. Craghorn on a Berroon item line wants the item-use scaling to keep landing. A level-4 Pebbler with a 1-second cooldown is a VOD; a level-4 Pebbler with no Shield plan is a dead candy.
Do not push 4 when:
- You are on 4 lives and the candy costs the rerolls that complete a pair.
- The unit is leaving the board after Mad Scientist day 7. Transform wipes the active team into random level-1 Legendaries. Candy after the transform, or do not candy at all. Trainer guide.
- You still have overflow. Clear the bench first.
- The effect is Mega Upgrade Disc and your best unit is still level 2. Finish the merge recipe, then spend the disc.
Ranked, launch, and the ceiling
Level 4 does not change the 10-win line. Stars still move by wins minus 5. A 10-win with six level-3s scores the same as a 10-win with one level-4 and five tourists, except the tourists probably died on day 6. Budget with the 10-win guide. Test expensive candies in Casual. Ranks.
Cooldown Speed still has a floor: effective cooldown cannot go below 0.1 seconds even if a thumbnail says 0.0s. Charge advances current progress; it does not rewrite the floor. A level-4 haste carry can look broken and still be capped. Combat math lives on combat.
Launch sets on September 15, 2026 may add more level tools. Until those cards exist, Mega Upgrade Disc, candies, and event level-ups are the path. When a number changes, patch notes own it. The items page lists the discs and candies in the item pool; this page tells you which body is allowed to eat them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Can I merge two level-3 copies into level 4?
No. Standard merges stop at 3. Level 4 needs a special effect such as Mega Upgrade Disc or a candy. See shop and merging.
What does Mega Upgrade Disc do?
It turns the next level 3 into level 4. If you have no level-3 engine, hold the gold or finish the merge recipe first.
Does a shiny copy change the merge?
A shiny and a normal still merge as the same name. If any ingredient is shiny, the result is shiny. Details on the shiny guide.
Is 0.0s cooldown real at level 4?
No. Effective cooldown cannot go below 0.1 seconds. Thumbnails lie. Confirm on combat.
