Batomon Showdown Best Trainers for Beginners
Pick the lock that searches the shop, not the lock that waits until day 9.
Your first Batomon Showdown trainer should reduce variance, not increase it. This shortlist is for people who have not finished a 10-win run. If you already convert championships, use the full trainer guide and the trainer tier list. If you do not yet know what a reroll costs, read Getting Started first.
Take these if they appear
Youngster is the default yes. Three free rerolls every day mean you can look for a pair without spending 9 gold. You will still make mistakes; you will make them with information. That is the beginner product.
Bug Catcher is the default yes when you like the Formiqueen / Bumblebolt pictures. A free Bug each round is a merge seed. Even a “bad” free Bug can be sold after you understand discounts. You will learn adjacency because Formiqueen forces you to.
Swim Coach is the default yes if the other two cards are Gamer and Mad Scientist. A daily Water unit is a plan: hold Water, wait for Plunderbird or a heal trigger, position for Torrantler later. You may get unlucky names. You will not get zero names.
Shopkeeper is a yes if you are willing to click items. Beginners often ignore items because they look like clutter. Shopkeeper makes clutter cheaper and rarer, which is exactly how Craghorn learns to scale. If you know you will never buy a berry, skip it.
Monster Ranger is a yes if you promise not to sell the gifted Uncommon. Two extra copies over a week is a level 2 with a trinket gift. That is a beginner-shaped payoff. If you are addicted to selling everything for rerolls, you will turn Ranger into a worse empty board.
Egg Breeder is a maybe. Four days to a Super Rare is fine if you still play a real shop. It is not fine if you stare at the egg and forget to merge Commons. Take it over Gamer. Take Youngster over it.
Skip these until you have a championship
Gamer — Mythical on day 9. You are asking to survive the 3-life days with no early gift. Most first runs do not.
Mad Scientist — Day 7 random Legendaries. Fun on video (the trainer-guide embed is this lock). Brutal if your only good units were the ones that just became level 1 strangers.
Masked Man — Powerful, but you need to know which ability to copy. Copying another greedy trainer is how the card feels “random.” After you understand Youngster, Masked Man becomes an A.
Chef / Redhead / Chemist — Excellent engines that require you to recognize types. Take them on the second weekend, not the first hour, unless the other offers are worse.
Rich Lady — Reworked. Do not import an old “infinite Common” speech.
??? — Will not appear in other people’s queues. Bad for learning human boards.
How to decide in 20 seconds
- Read all three sentences. Do not click art.
- Prefer extra shops (rerolls, free units, daily gifts) over extra drama (transforms, Mythicals).
- Prefer payoffs before day 5. The 10-win guide is the reason.
- If two S-beginner cards appear, take the one whose type you already like. You will hover more carefully if you like Bugs or Water.
- Then go play. Do not reopen this page mid-shop. Reopen shop and merging if gold is the problem.
After the lock, your only job is to feed the gift. Bug Catcher who buys Fire dual-types for fun is doing a bit. Swim Coach who sells every Water for a dragon is doing a bit. Youngster who never rerolls is wearing a hat. The comp list can wait until you have one core on the board. The ranks page can wait until a Casual 10-win exists.
Launch will add trainers. The rule will not change: beginners should lock extra shops. Drama trainers are a reward for having lives left.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What if none of the beginner trainers are offered?
Take the earliest payoff. Egg Breeder before Gamer. Chef before Mad Scientist. Then play that sentence honestly.
Is Shopkeeper too hard for new players?
Only if you refuse to buy items. If you are willing to click berries and tickets, it is a teaching lock for the Berroon core.
Should I reroll my trainer?
You cannot. The three cards are the offer. Lock one and go to the shop.
When do I graduate from this list?
After a Casual 10-win. Then try Masked Man or Chef on purpose, not by accident.
